The EIS provides support to the Archery GB Paralympic programme predominantly from the teams’ training base at Lilleshall National Sports Centre.

The EIS support team are fully integrated within the Archery GB Olympic programme overseen by Head of Performance Science and Medicine Oliver Logan.

Logan, who previously worked with the sport as an EIS Biomechanist for eight years, was appointed to the newly created role in 2015 with a remit to oversee the science and medicine team.

As a technical sport requiring strength from its athletes, the integration of biomechanics, physiotherapy and strength and conditioning support services with the coaching team plays an important role in the programme, enhancing coach/athlete contact and increasing availability to train.

As a sport requiring mental resilience to compete and adapt under pressure and consistently execute a shot under a variety of conditions, our WITTW approach places Wellbeing as a key component of performance. Working closely through the coaches, this is facilitated and coordinated by our Performance Lifestyle Adviser, Lynsey Marsh.

During the current Paralympic cycle the EIS/UK Sport Performance Pathway Team has also worked with GB Archery on a specific profiling project aimed at ensuring the sport has an effective pathway in place to develop and integrate athletes into the programme as a foundation for long term success. It has also worked to good effect on recruitment programmes for Para-archers.
